Keeping Ourselves Safe

For the last few Weeks we have been working with the NZ Police on Our Keeping Ourselves Safe Programme. This was an important time for the students to learn how to look after themselves in different situations at school, at home, in the community and online. Here are some of our reflections

Something I enjoyed was KOS because I saw my best friend Austin. Something that made me feel uncomfortable was walking about yucky body parts because I'm not used to it.
Three new things I learnt were
1. If someone does something weird, you tell an adult straight away.
2. What to say or do when someone does something weird.
3. That you can go to the office is something someone does something weird when you are at school.
- Will

Something I enjoyed was learning about cyber abuse because I also learned about chatting rooms.
Three new things I learnt were
1. About cyber safety
2. The STAR! Stop, Think, Act, Report.
3. Not to tell people your password.

Chocolate factory!

I can see lots of conveyor belts with delicious chocolates on them.
I can hear whirring and alarms of chocolate cooking.
I taste a free sample of strawberry chocolate.
I smell the lovely scent of chocolate.

Forest Description

In the forest,I can see a high canopy of trees surrounding me, filled with twittering birds. I can hear the rustle of leaves, footsteps and chirping birds. I can smell the fresh grass and flowers. I can feel the gravel footpath, the crunchy autumn leaves and the rough bark on the trees. I can taste the crisp breeze on my tongue. By Amy McKerras.

Lucius' Quick Write

My favourite animal is a puma because it has teeth as big as a shark. It has big claws like a tiger and it's body is as small as a mouse. It lives in the jungle. It jumps at its prey. It's like a little dinosaur.

Hosting Full School Assembly

Last week, we hosted the full school assembly with our Buddy Class, Room 2. We had so much fun learning our lines, practising our songs and dances and performing for the whole school. Because it was also Road Safety week, we used that as our theme and pretending to invite a new kid to our school to teach them about all our Travel-wise ways! With the help of the Polkadot's Travel-wise Star Soundtrack, we pulled of an amazing assembly - we were so proud of our classes! Here are some of their reflections.

Something I enjoyed was when we did the moves to 'beat your feet' because there were funny moves in the song. Something I did well was my script. I put heaps and heaps of effort. If I did it again I would like to be one of the students because they had heaps of lines.
Ollie (who played Mr Stewart)

Something I enjoyed was singing because I love singing. Something I did well was being the narrator because I could say my lines clearly. If we did it again I wish I could be on stage or be the new kid, because I like to be on stage
Amy (who was one of our narrators.)
